How to Solve Complex Scientific Challenges with Comprehensive Proteomics and Bioinformatics means - HUPO Brain Proteome Project
Since more than a decade proteomics is the method of choice for the life science sector as genetics could not cure all human diseases. Unfortunately, the world of proteins is far more complex than the genome; and a proper analysis can be extremely expensive and time consuming. In addition, the need of standards, standard operation procedures (SOPs) and common rules is obvious. Therefore, the Hu...

Figure 1 Scheme showing aims and linkages of the HUPO Plasma Proteome Project. The Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) was founded in 2001 to accelerate the development of the field of proteomics and to stimulate and organize international collaborations in research and education (1). HUPO has launched several major initiatives, of which the Plasma Proteome Project (PPP) is the most salient for ...

The Human Proteome Organization has several major collaborative research initiatives, including the Plasma Proteome Project. A major feature of the HUPO World Congress in Munich in August 2005 was the release of the special issue of PROTEOMICS with 28 articles from the pilot phase of the Plasma Proteome Project. An open Workshop and a presentation in the closing plenary session of the congress ...
متن کاملHUPO Brain Proteome Project: toward a code of conduct.
The prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases in all societies increases steadily and so do the costs for comprehensive scientific proteomics studies. This is due to immense expenses for equipment and consumables as well as to a high number of repetitions to fulfill the statistical imperative. At the same time, techniques become even more complex, whereas suitable samples are scarce, especially ...
متن کاملI-49: Human Y Chromosome ProteomeProject
The success of the Human Genome Project (HGP) has provided a blueprint for the approximately 20,000 gene-encoded proteins potentially active in all of the hundreds of cell types that make up the human body. Yet we still have limited knowledge about a majority of the gene-encoded proteins which are the “building blocks of life” and “cellular machinery”. It is estimated that for nearly half of th...
